A Golden Moment in Onondaga County
Recently, the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program celebrated an extraordinary milestone by gifting over 200 million books to young readers worldwide. To mark this incredible achievement, the Imagination Library initiated a special campaign involving seven golden bookmarks, each hidden within the pages of books delivered to children across the globe.
And to our amazement at the Literacy Coalition, one of these golden bookmarks found its way into the hands of a young reader right here in Onondaga County! Rocco, from Clay, discovered the golden bookmark in his Imagination Library book. This magical bookmark is not just a token of celebration; it's a ticket to a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
With this golden bookmark, Rocco will have the opportunity to virtually meet Dolly Parton herself.
But the story doesn't end there. The Dollywood Foundation will also donate $2,000 on behalf of Rocco to the Literacy Coalition of Onondaga County, and Rocco and his family will also receive tickets to the Dollywood Theme Park.
The Literacy Coalition of Onondaga County is honored to be a part of this journey, and we are committed to continuing our mission to bring the joy of reading to children and families throughout our community. The success of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program in Onondaga County has been made possible by support from The United Way of Central New York, Onondaga County, the City of Syracuse, The Dorothy and Anthony M. Reisman Foundation, and the Central New York Community Foundation, among others.
Rocco's story is a heartwarming reminder that the world of books is filled with endless possibilities, and we look forward to creating more golden moments in the lives of young readers right here in Onondaga County.
