Virginia "Ginny" Carmody, 68, of Syracuse, NY passed away peacefully on January 14th, 2026 at Francis House, surrounded by immediate family. Ginny was the founding Executive Director of the Literacy Coalition of Onondaga County and was responsible for bringing the Dolly Parton Imagination Library book program to our Central New York Community. She had a passion for making a positive difference in the lives of others and the impact of her work made our community a better place.

Donations in her honor can be made out to either Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library book program, helping continued efforts towards early childhood literacy, or Francis House.
