Early Literacy Game: Silly Caesar

This game is sure to bring the laughs between you and your kiddo. It’s called Silly Caesar, and it’s as educational as it is silly.

Like all of the games we highlight here, you can adapt this one to your child’s ability level as they progress.

Silly Caesar

Ability level: pre-reader

Directions: Begin the game by saying a word very, very slowly. It’s key to say the word syllable by syllable. As you say the word, your child listens carefully to figure out the word that you’re saying. To kick it off, the adult says: “Silly Caesar speaks very slowly. What word is Silly Caesar saying?”

Examples:

Ta - ble

Hos - pit- al

Tan - ger - ine

Fire - truck

Play - ground

Wat - er - fall

Benefits: By paying close attention to the way that different sounds come together to make words, your child can practice blending sounds together to create real words.
